2023 – 2025 Board Members

The Ethiopian Association KW and Surrounding Areas held its annual general meeting on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 and new board members (Michael Wolde and Esayas Wondemu) and returning board members (Admas Mekuria, Betty Daniel, Hiyab Maereg, and Dawit Debssou) are appointed with one open spot for a secretary. If you are interested in the secretary position please email info@eakw.ca. The new board will build on the excellent work started and continue bringing together Ethiopians and Ethiopian Canadians in the region to celebrate their cultural heritage, foster a sense of belonging, and equip and strengthen the community. We will share a short bio about the newly elected board members soon.

One full time and one part time staff and seven committees will support the new board.

We thank the 2021 to 2023 board members (Denekew (Denny), Admas, Dawit, Betty, Hiyab, Zinash, Zerihun, and Elam) for their volunteer efforts and positive impact over the past two years!

A special thank you to Denekew (Denny) for his leadership and community advocacy, serving as a chairperson over the past four years! He has decided to step away but says: “The association is in good hands. Congratulations to the new board members! We are glad to appoint Essayas and Mike to join the board; they will help take us to the next level. I also would like to thank those board members who are staying on to serve for another term. Your commitment is well-recognized and appreciated! Thank you for being so willing to serve again. Wish you all a successful term!”

Family Day Celebration & Bazaar

Join us for a family day celebration and learn about home-based businesses in the community. As a community, we want to empower business owners and allow them to promote and showcase their products and services (which can include home made goods, clothing/fashion, beauty products, consulting, or other services).
