Health is something we often think about only when something feels wrong – but for many in our community, both physical and mental health challenges are quietly present every day. In the Waterloo Region, families, youth, and especially seniors sometimes struggle to find the right support, the right information, or simply someone who will listen. At the Ethiopian Association of Kitchener Waterloo (EAKW), we believe that health is not just about treatment – it is about care, connection, and understanding. Through our partnerships, we provide access to culturally responsive mental health services that are easier to navigate. We understand that conversations around mental health, disability, and autism can be difficult, which is why we create safe spaces for open dialogue. Our biweekly discussions include dedicated sessions on disability and autism, where families can share experiences, learn from one another, and access guidance in a supportive environment. For our seniors, we also offer a welcoming biweekly program where they can come together to discuss their health concerns with dignity and trust. If you or your family need support, we are here to connect you to the right services. You are not alone – your well-being matters to all of us.
