For many families, settling into a new community comes with a quiet worry – are our children getting the support they need to succeed? Between adapting to a new education system and balancing daily life, it can be difficult for young people to keep up and feel confident in their learning. At the Ethiopian Association of Kitchener Waterloo (EAKW), we understand this concern because we see it in the families we serve – and we respond with care, commitment, and community. Every Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Family Centre, our tutoring program opens its doors to children and youth who need extra support. Whether it’s math, physics, biology, chemistry, English, or other subjects, our young, energetic, and highly capable tutors are there to guide, encourage, and inspire. They are not just tutors – they are mentors who understand the journey and are eager to give back. Beyond academics, our youth-led basketball and soccer programs create spaces where young people can build confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging. If your family is looking for support, connection, and opportunity, you are not alone. We are here for you – every step of the way.
